The slide is forged from Damascus steel made exclusively from original U.S. military M1 Garand barrels spanning World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. These barrels were carefully selected, sectioned, and forge-welded into a bespoke Damascus billet. The forging process was intentionally engineered so the final pattern evokes the American flag, with flowing striations that echo movement, contrast, and unity—many steels, one purpose. No two slides are identical. Each bears its own interpretation of the flag, ensuring every pistol is singular while remaining unmistakably part of the Independence collection.
The grips are machined from the same M1 Garand Damascus steel as the slide, making this pistol one of the rarest configurations ever produced—steel grips forged from historic military rifles. The pattern alignment between slide and grips creates visual continuity, giving the pistol a cohesive, monolithic presence. These are not decorative panels—they are structural, weighty, and unapologetically American.
Each Independence Gun is paired with a matching fixed-blade knife, forged from the same M1 Garand Damascus steel by legendary bladesmith, and Forged In Fire Champion, Ricardo Vilar. The blade carries the same historic patterning, making it a true companion piece rather than an accessory. The handle is crafted from original M1 Garand wood stock, preserving the warmth and character of the rifle that once bore it. Steel and wood—reborn together. This knife exists solely for this collection and will never be produced independently.
